Amazon Sidewalk Tracker Setup & Usage
Whether you’re using your own Amazon Sidewalk Tracker Kit or borrowing one from Subeca, this guide will walk you through the key steps of setup and usage.
Charge your device
In your kit, you will receive a charging cable and the test device itself. To charge the device, plug in the charging cable, and dock the test device on the cable base. When charging, the blue light on the device will repeatedly turn on for two seconds, then off for two seconds. When fully charged, the LED light will turn solid blue.
Once fully charged, the kit can operate on battery power for up to 8 hours. The device will begin logging signal strength data as soon as it has any power.

Go for a walk or drive.
Take the test device for a spin! For the best representation of your system’s Sidewalk strength, we recommend walking or driving a reading route, or heading to an area with inconsistent reads.
- Take the device off of the charging base.
- Travel your route, or to an area where you would like to see signal strength.
- The device will stop logging data when it has run out of battery. We recommend keeping the device in a stationary location when you are not actively collecting data.
Log into your Amazon Sidewalk 360 portal
Note: If you are renting a tracker kit from Subeca, you will not have an individual login to the Sidewalk 360 portal. Skip to the next step!
- Navigate to the Amazon Sidewalk 360 portal: https://360.sidewalk.amazon/#
- Enter the email and temporary password received in the “Welcome to Amazon Sidewalk360” email.
- Enter the 6-digit code sent to your phone.

Review and interpret your data
Note: If you are renting a tracker kit from Subeca, you will not have an individual login to the Sidewalk 360 portal to review and interpret data. Notify your Subeca rep that you have returned from collecting data, and they will provide an overview of the data within 3 working days.
- Navigate to the Test Kit Coverage Map tab along the top.
- Filter your data to the time frame in which it was collected.
- Optionally, toggle the Estimated Coverage layer off to remove the estimated coverage in your area.
- Locate the signal strength indicators on the map.
The Sidewalk test device provides Link Quality Indicator (LQI) values, a connectivity strength indicator that ranges from 1 (Poor) to 5 (Strong). LQI is loosely related to the Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) value. In the Sidewalk 360 portal, you will see the following LQI indicators on the map:

Subeca’s products would generally be expected to perform well in the following conditions, although we have observed good performance on lower LQIs.
- Wired Pin: LQI >= 3
- Wireless Pin: LQI >= 4
Export your data
- Locate and click the Data tab near the top of the page.
- Click Download Raw Data to get a CSV of your tracker data.
FAQs
I hear intermittent, annoying, loud beeping - what’s going on?
Your device battery is likely low! Put the device on the charger and make sure it’s charging, with the blue LED alternating on and off. When your kit’s battery level reaches less than 10%, it will beep every five minutes. At less than 5%, it will beep every minute.
My LQIs are all Below 3, Help!
If you are seeing consistent LQIs below 3, Amazon Sidewalk on its own is likely not the best plan for your network. We recommend a mixed Sidewalk / LoRaWAN or pure LoRaWAN plan for areas with low LQI, or you can consider our Wired Pin, which has a 8x better signal range. Talk to your Subeca representative for help interpreting your tracker results, and how a customized mix can meet your needs.
How does Amazon Sidewalk protect customer information?
Preserving customer privacy and security is foundational to how Amazon Sidewalk was built. Amazon Sidewalk is designed with multiple layers of encryption to secure data traveling on Amazon Sidewalk. For example, Amazon Sidewalk Bridge owners do not receive any information about devices owned by others connected to Amazon Sidewalk.
What is the kit’s operating temperature?
The kit’s operating temperature range is 32°F to 113°F. If the external temperature rises over 113°F, the kit will reboot and enter thermal protection mode. In this case, the kit has to be connected to a power source to resume operation. The kit will return to normal operation after the temperature has dropped to 109°F. This mechanism is intended to protect against battery hazards at high temperatures.
If the kit is exposed to temperature between 32°F and 14°F, the kit will reboot and resume operation once the temperature has risen to 36°F or higher. You do not need to connect the kit to the charger in this case. However, if the kit is exposed to temperature below 14°F, the kit has to be connected to a power source to resume normal operation once the temperature has risen to 36°F or higher.
Who do I contact if I have issues with my Sidewalk Tracker Kit?
